Ghost Tours at Fort
Delaware |
|
The Ghost Tours are generally conducted on Friday, Saturday and
Sunday evenings and at other times by special reservation. These are conducted by a nationally know storyteller and the Fort Delaware historian as well as many behind the scenes staff and volunteers from Fort Delaware. These 2 to 3 hour tours commence on the dock in Delaware City and proceed to Fort Delaware aboard the vessel, Delafort. The immensely interesting stories are presented in locations and context where they happened. Some who have attended the Ghost Tours claim that they sensed the presence of those in the stories. Rumor has it that upon occasion the staff and volunteers help in this regard. In any case, it is suggested that visitors bring a flashlight since in the past some have been lost at Fort Delaware and are now part of the ghost stories. A Special series of Ghost Tours is scheduled for October. Dinner is served at the Olde Canal Inn in Delaware City, which is a country inn complete with fine dining restaurant, tavern and waterfront deck. It is important to book early since the Ghost Tours are ALWAYS sold out. This tour can be combined with a City Tram tour of the Delaware City Historic District. |
